We met at an exhibition nine years ago and have returned to the Met through new jobs, new apartments, and completely different versions of ourselves. The steps are still where we wait for each other.
We asked for one serious portrait and started laughing before it was taken. That is the New York memory we kept: a grand place holding something completely personal.
